the Healing Lab Way

What is it costing you to not take on your healing?

What is at stake if you continue to push it off?

Spiritual Integrity - lack of spiritual intentionality in social justice is like creating sacred space with the intention to harm. If you bring spiritual integrity to social justice, then healing becomes a tool of accountability. If you don’t, then our sacred spaces of organizing can quickly become another tool of co-dependency, harm, and trauma bonding in the name of self-care and healing.

Mission

Organizational trauma is not something that you can fix with a strategic plan, mainstream leadership staff retreats, or even by implementing health and wellness classes and self-care moments.

The current environment does not take into consideration that the staff in the room who they are training are possibly victims or survivors who often time leave these empowering trainings feeling shame and guilt, re-triggered and re-victimized. Without an understanding that Personal trauma breeds organizational trauma that results in dominating, sometimes co-dependent supervisors, staff, and co-worker relationships leaders will continue to feel a loss of integrity in their sacred and safe spaces leading to organizational loss of boundaries, and destructive intimate relationships which produce damaging effects that seem almost impossible to undo. As a result, there is a range of impact from the closing down of organizations to major interpersonal violence with people feeling more abused than when they came in. Within a small amount of time, without appropriate tools or practices, people’s health deteriorates, the sustainability and integrity of the organization and its people is compromised, and there is burnout and dis-ease.

Vision

When social justice holds accountability it holds the state, the govt, organizations, leaders, and powers that be. People who promised us something and they are not keeping their word.

So, when healing justice gets held to account who does it hold to account? the person healing who is also not keeping their word to the mission and vision of an organization.

However, many of us are exhausted because we are managing and holding feelings and emotions to account.  As leaders, we can only hold what people stand for to account. We can only hold what people give their word to, to account. We can only hold what they agree to and are committed to, to account.

In social justice, healing justice holds people's healing to account so they can show up in integrity to who they say they are, their stand in the world, and to create the world they say they are committed to living in.

A Personal and Organizational Invitation

Our definition goes beyond healing justice and is grounded in the belief that the structure, ecosystem, and culture of organizations can only  be designed to win if the individual people who lead and work within them bring intentional  integrity, responsibility, and accountability  hence“healing with accountability.”

We invite everyone to be in inquiry and reflect on the questions in the video so you can create a  stand in the world that you and your team, collective, and organization can hold to account.

Bring them to your staff meetings, check-ins, and strategic planning - write down some things and come back and share it with us too.
